The mission of High Performance is to identify, train and develop elite athletes and coaches to build a sustainable pipeline of future Olympians and Paralympians. High Performance bridges the gap between our Senior U.S. National Teams and high potential athletes. The High Performance National Team “Pipeline” is for volleyball athletes who aspire to reach the elite level of their sport and is intended to grow the pool of talented young players who may someday compete for a spot on the U.S. National and Olympic Teams.
Region High Performance Programs are the regional branches of USA Volleyball’s National HP Program. Region HP Programs are operated by the USAV Region that sponsors the program in order to provide junior athletes with high-level training and skill development with some of the top coaches from their region. Many regions also send teams to USA Volleyball’s High Performance Championships, providing more athletes the opportunity to compete in the highest level junior tournament available in the United States and the only international tournament sponsored by USA Volleyball.
Region HP Programs can vary in scope from a 3-day training program to comprehensive programs that include coaching education, sustained athlete training, and team selection and competition at the High Performance Championships. Some regions even select and train teams to travel overseas for international tournament play. While flexibility is permitted in determining the scope of Region HP programs, each program must remain consistent with USAV National criteria and standards.
North Country Region will have tryouts for junior girls and boys located all around the region. Athletes may attend any tryout. During the tryout process, athletes will be put through a structured USAV High Performance Curriculum and evaluated by qualified coaches utilizing the USAV High Performance athlete selection rubric. Selected athletes at each tryout will be invited to attend the 3 day North Country Region High Performance Camp in July.
