Junior Official LevelS of Certification
There is a new official's structure which will bring NCR in line with the upcoming changes in USAV referee ratings.
There are two types of Team Officials, Basic (Adults) & Junior Olympic (J.O. Players). Both types of Team Officials must attend clinics regarding:
- Scorekeeping
- Basic Rule Knowledge
- Match Administration
Professional Officials are USAV paid officials. All officials must be in good standing with NCR. The requirements of achieving certification are as follows:
- Provisional Officials
- Player referee or other officiating experience (High School or Park & Rec) within the last year
- Player or coach within the past five years
- Attend annual Advanced clinic
- Take Exam A online. Results will be returned via email and any errors must be corrected with the rule reference and returned to the NCR Officials Chair
- Practical rating as R1 and R2 from member of the NCR rating team
- Provisional ratings expire annually on October 31st
- Regional Officials
- Provisional referee for one year
- Attend annual Advanced clinic
- Take Exam A online. Results will be returned via email and any errors must be corrected with the rule reference and returned to the NCR Officials Chair
- Practical rating as R1 and R2 from member of the NCR rating team
- Complete Regional scorekeeper certification including taking the scorekeeper exam online and corrected to 100% and complete a practical rating by the NCR rating team
- Practical ratings are good for two years. They will expire on Oct 31st, two years from when the ratings are given
- Junior National Officials
- Regional referee for two years
- Take Exam A online. Results will be returned via email and any errors must be corrected with the rule reference and returned to the NCR Officials Chair
- Recommended by NCR rating team
- Pass rating by the National rating team at an approved site
- Attend a USAV/PAVO camp (Recommended)
- Complete application and fulfill requirements ~ here
- National Officials
- Junior National Official for one season
- Complete application and fulfill requirements ~ here
- FIVB International Arbiter
- Complete requirements to be a USAV Provisional International Candidate
- Obtain approval from the USA-International Referee Commission to attend an approved FIVB International Referee Candidate Course and successfully complete the Course, including theoretical testing, practical rating, and scorekeeping requirements
- Not have attained the age of 41 when attending the approved FIVB clinic
- Regional Scorekeeper
- Take the scorekeeper exam online. Results will be returned via email and any errors must be corrected with the rule reference and returned to the NCR Scorekeeping Chair
- Complete the scorekeeping sample set located in the USAV Rule Book and return to the NCR Scorekeeping Chair
- Complete a practical rating by the NCR rating team
- Practical ratings and sample sets are good for two years. They will expire on Oct 31st, two years from when the ratings are given
- National Scorekeeper
- Regional scorekeeper for one year
- Recommended by NCR rating team
- Complete application and fulfill requirements ~ here
- International Scorekeeper
- Complete requirements, attend an international clinic, and complete application ~ here
The Regional Rating Team is comprised of Regional Ranked Officials or higher with in NCR and must be trained by the National Rating Team
