Mission and Vision

About North Country Region Volleyball


North Country Region Volleyball is a non-profit, membership organization.  As one of 40 regions that partner with USA Volleyball, which is the National Governing Body of Volleyball in the United States as designated by the United States Olympic Committee, North Country Region is the upper Midwest chapter of USA Volleyball.  The Region serves as the foremost agency for junior and adult players, club directors and coaches, parents and spectators, officials and scorekeepers, sitting and sand with the intent of Growing the Game.  High quality service with high quality experiences is the Region’s operating standard.

 

Membership Organization

North Country Region is an individual membership organization. Membership is with North Country Region and with USA Volleyball only.

North Country Region utilizes USA Volleyball Rules of Play, or a variation thereof, for volleyball developmental purposes.

Volleyball for LifeTM: For all ages, skill levels and aspects both within and surrounding the game within Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Strategic Guidelines

SUPPORT AND GROW REGION OFFICIALS
1. Officials Chair - seek qualified candidates to serve as non-voting member on NCR Board of Directors.
2. Training
     - USA Volleyball Officials National Training Team (2020, 2021, and 
then every two years)
     - Annual officials training opportunities
3. Mentoring/Evaluation
     - Provide opportunities for officials to be evaluated and earn higher level certification
     -  Nominate at least one NCR official annually for Junior National or National certification
4. Work Opportunities
     - NCR hosted events will have paid R1s
     - Junior Officiating Training - hire 1 - 2 officials to assist junior clubs on learning and applying rules of competition
     -  Provide in person officiating clinics ran by a cadre of NCR certified USAV officials

EVENTS
1. NCR hosted events will have paid R1s
     - Boys Winter Tournament
     - February Tournament
     - Smack Showcase - boys
     - Region Qualifier
     - Area Championships
2.  Underserved Communities
     - Region Roadtrip - no registration fee
     - Provide official to assist club teams on learning and applying rules of the game during competition
3. Partner and Grow
     - Work with other Regions and Clubs to grow tournament offerings (Superior WI, Great Plains, etc..)

HIGH PERFORMANCE
1. Resuscitate the Region's HP Program
2. Boys and Girls Teams
3. Aligned with USAV NTDP model
4. Select Region coaches and volunteers 

COACHES
1. Provide coach education (AVCA)
2. Host Coach Clinics (NTDP, Art of Coaching, In House)
3. Identify coaches at clinic to participate in HP or future Region Coaching Clinics

CLUB DIRECTORS/TOURNAMENT DIRECTORS
1. Weekly communication
2. Club Director Manual/Handbook
3. Monthly meetings/symposiums
4. Identify key policies and guidelines for future years
